British and French forces won but there was millions of casualties. Wipe out German Defenses with a huge initial artillery bombardment then cross nomads land to a devastating enemy. Confident there artillery burst, they march out in broad daylight, and they got crushed, but still win.

Battle of Argonne Forest (September 26- November 11, 1918)
Allied power of France, U.S. was associated, and Central Power German Empire
Where: Argonne Forest, France- Western Front
U.S. had 117,000 casualties, France had 70,000 casualties, and Germans had 100,000 casualties French Takes the city of Sedan. It was an offense against 3 of us against Germany. British at Cambrai, French at the Flanders, and the Argonne Forest pushing back 5 miles toward enemy grounds until French forces reached the city of Sedan, and took it over.

The Germans lost the battle, and Allied forces win peace. This signing was to end the fighting of World War 1!

Trench Warfare
A new trench periscope enabled soldiers to observe the battleground from the relative safety of a trench without risking sniper fire.
Western Front
This area was put in use when a German army invaded Luxembourg and Belgium. This land was at war when British and French forces bombarded them and causing many casualties of their own, on an invasion that went wrong. There were no significant advances, just many British and French deaths.
Eastern Front
This land used in wars between the Russian Empire and Romania on one side and Austro-Hungarian Empire, Bulgaria and Germany on the other side. It reached from the Baltic Sea in the North to the Black Sea in the South.
American role in WWI
America entered the war on April 6th 1917 when German forces announced the use of Unrestricted submarines, and ever since then they have been trying to get out of the war. We were out there to isolate and neutralize during the war when enemies stooped to low levels such as trench warfare.

Nickname for American soldiers that were inexperienced.

About 2 million men volunteered, and the Selective Services Act were that all men who were from 21 to 30 years of age must register to military services, and on the year of August 1918 they changed it from 21 to 18 years of age. A lottery number determined in what order they were called.

Women during World War I
What is unique (or a first about women in WWI)? Before the war women usually did the girly jobs like nursing, dress making, secretarial work but after the war broke out women took advantage in a different job that helped America when many men were out fighting. Women were hired to meet the demands of military production, women started getting more involved by signing up for nursing in the war, transportation, and the production of ammunition.
Describe in detail the capacity in which women served during WWI? a.Women had more freedom, they were able to do men jobs to help us win the wars. It wasn't acceptable to work these jobs, but it contributed to our victories b. Women capacity was not being able to go to war, they contributed by making artillery and giving rides to the area.

Native Americans in WWI
Many Indians fought alongside the Americans by fighting against enemy forces that endangered the one thing we share, our home. Later they made an Act for citizenship for all Indians.
